 How to use a drigalski spatula 


  • Prepare a 96% Ethanol solution 
  • Place the drigalski spatula in the ethanol 
  • Flame the spatula and let the ethanol burn (to sterilize) 
  • Place the spatula on the agar plate and close the plate with the lid (to cool spatula)
  • Add your bacteria 
  • Disperse the bacteria with the spatula until the agar is dry 
  • Place the plate with bacteria in the incubator at a desired temperature 
  • Place the spatula back in ethanol and store at RT
